Financial Planning
Financial planning services
Our financial planning team is 100% focused on putting in place a plan for you to achieve financial freedom, and guiding you to achieve it.
Our down-to-earth and structured approach with the Financial Freedom Wheel™ means you stay in control of your financial affairs and decisions. Our role is to guide and support you to make things as efficient and easy as possible for you to achieve your goals.
An important decision
Choosing a financial advisor is a big decision. It’s not about a short-term transaction — it’s about a long-term relationship with someone you can trust and someone who takes the time to know and understand you, your aspirations and your preferences.
When you choose The Hendrie Group’s financial planning team to support you, you’ll not only be comforted by our 40-plus years of experience in helping families just like yours achieve financial freedom, you’ll know you’re being guided by an expert team, not just by one person.
Team approach
Our advisers at The Hendrie Group are qualified to give financial planning, investment and insurance advice to a wide range of individuals and companies and our team approach means you always get guidance from advisors who are highly skilled, qualified and up-to-date in their particular area.
Our team approach to financial planning is crucial because no one financial adviser can be an expert across multiple specialist areas such as superannuation (including self-managed super), insurance, debt management, tax minimisation and family estate planning, for example.
3 steps to custom advice
There’s no “one size fits all” approach to financial planning, as each person’s financial affairs are unique to their situation and aspirations. The last thing you want is “cookie cutter” advice that’s not tailored specifically for you.
That’s why we’ll guide you along the Understand > Strategy > Action journey…
Step 1: Understand
In our first meeting together, we will take the time to understand you:
- Where you are now
- Where you want to be and
- What’s in your way.
There’s no cost for this initial discussion and no obligation to proceed beyond this meeting. It’s an opportunity for you and for us to see if we’d be comfortable working with each other.
Feel free to come with your list of questions for us. We’ll explain more about how we operate and what you can expect of us, we’ll explain how our fees are structured and—if we both agree that there looks to be scope for us to assist you—we’ll provide you with information about our services and packages.
As you know, financial planning is a carefully regulated area (as it should be) and as part of our compliance requirements, we’ll provide you with a copy of our Financial Services Guide (FSG).
At the end of the meeting you can decide to give us authority—the go-ahead—to prepare for you a specific or a comprehensive Statement of Advice (SOA). That choice is up to you.
Step 2: Strategy
If you decide to take the next step with us after our initial meeting, we’ll then map out the journey for you in the Statement of Advice (SOA): We’ll document time frames, your goals, your stated risk tolerance and investment strategy options for you.
To do this, we’ll dig deeper with a ‘fact find’ process to:
- Help you clarify and prioritise your financial, personal and business goals
- Gain an overview of your current financial situation
- Identify your assets and liabilities to determine your current net worth
- Understand your current debt structure for cash flow and tax effectiveness
- Map out your income and expenditure into a realistic budget plan
- Confirm your investor ‘risk profile’ to know what you’re comfortable with
- List out and assess your current insurance policies
- Identify any holes and create a stronger ‘risk protection’ strategy
- Discuss other issues you’d like us to address (tax, loans, strategy, structure, ‘magic wand list’)
- Ensure we have a clear understanding of what you want YOUR financial strategy to achieve
As we mentioned earlier, while you always remain in control of all decisions, you’ll love the clarity and direction the chosen strategy will give you in your financial life.
And while planning is crucial, a plan is just a plan, right?
Next we move into implementation…
Step 3: Action
We’ll make sure we keep things step-by-step simple. Together, we’ll decide where to start—which items in your strategy to implement first—we’ll get things rolling for you and, importantly, we’ll keep you on track with regular proactive communication and meetings to review progress.
This is how we’ll help you achieve your financial freedom — by ensuring you take consistent action towards your financial and lifestyle goals, and making any necessary adjustments along the way.
Service Packages
We offer you flexibility in how you’d like to engage with us. Depending on your preferences and the complexity of your financial affairs, you might choose from one of the following:
- Hourly Rate — For ad-hoc advice as requested. For most clients this isn’t the ideal option.
- Single Strategy Plan — This allows one area of your financial life to be addressed—such as superannuation or an investment lump sum—if budget is currently an issue for you.
- Financial Freedom Wheel – Full Strategy — This is our most popular package. It addresses all ‘8 spokes’ of your financial freedom to put you on a clear and structured path to wealth.
We’ll explain the packages and options in more detail when we meet with you in Step 1, above.
